If you’re not a fan of corporate coffee on Upper King, you’ll be happy to hear that New Orleans-based shop Revelator Coffee Company is inching closer to opening near the forthcoming Starbucks. First announced late last year, Revelator has been in the construction phase at 550 King St. Now, the roast bean distributor has put out a call for employees on Craigslist.

The post reads:

We are a coffee company determined to revitalize the market with fresh-roasted, quality-driven coffee that is not dulled down by superfluous syrups or sizes. One of the many benefits of working at Revelator will be the use of our Slayer espresso machine for serious coffee drinkers. We also have a private roastery to ensure that our coffee is made with the freshest beans possible. Other benefits of the job will be very competitive pay and flexible hours.

Every employer wants applicants who are "hard-working, punctual, have great attitudes and customer service skills." But at Revelator, we want more than just the average barista. We are looking to build a strong family of coffee enthusiasts who care as much about a cup they serve as they care about the customer to whom they are serving it. And if you aren't a die-hard fan of coffee, we expect suitable applicants to possess a desire to learn and explore the world of coffee with the same vivaciousness as ours.

The space at Revelator is still fairly bare, so it will probably be a few more weeks before Charleston gets an opening date. Keep eyes here for updates.

[UPDATE: A rep for Revelator reached out and said the post was a bit off. “We do have house-made syrups and specialty drinks that we'll be serving -- along with food and, depending on timelines for licensing, beer + wine,” she wrote]
