JAMES ISLAND — Chef Sermet Aslan and crew have been honing their craft on Daniel Island and have now opened a new spot on James Island. Sermet’s Southernterranean Cuisine-Bar takes techniques of the Mediterranean and melds them with Southern ingredients. The space is casual, with outdoor seating, and a small bar for patrons to partake in local beers and the occasional frozen cocktail. The menu hasn’t been released, but you can keep up on Facebook.

JAMES ISLAND — Chef Sean Mendes of Roadside Seafood brings high-end burgers to 815 Folly Rd. at Blues Burger Joint. City Paper reports that the restaurant in the former Island Bar & Grill will open daily from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. Look for beefy burgers with lots of toppings, live music, and cold beers.
