The face of Lower King is changing once again with the shutter of King Street Grille on Sunday, August 28. After 13 years at the 304 King Street address, the sports bar is locking the doors due to “due to non-renewal of their lease,” according to a recent press release, “Owners say they will be actively searching other options to return to King Street under a situation where the lease agreement is mutually beneficial to all parties.”

The other locations of King Street Grille in North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Kiawah, Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach will remain open and will keep the name King Street Grille. “We would like to thank all of our customers and employees for the support over the years. We started on King Street and King Street will always be in our name even if we don’t have a King Street restaurant,” says partner Scott Kier.

With rents skyrocketing on King Street, many more corporations are moving in, so it will be interesting to see who takes over the address.
