Some restaurateurs like to hype up their openings with menu teasers and others like to keep it a surprise until all the details are worked out. Chef Brannon Florie favored the latter when he suddenly announced to City Paper that he is opening a raw bar/seafood eatery at 1039 Hwy. 41, Mount Pleasant (next to Florie’s other restaurant On Forty-One) next week. Named Pier 41, Florie told CP that "It's similar to 167 Raw, but it has the fried stuff too, like Pearlz," but also with an Asian twist.
The menu runs through seafood towers, oyster po' boys with kimchi aioli, flounder tacos with Korean mustard remoulade, scallop crudo, lobster rolls, potstickers, something called “Lobster Fried Rice Mac & Cheese” with lobster, Charleston Gold rice, smoked gouda, and many other sea-centric choices.
Pier 41 opens on August, 23, and will keeps dinner hours of Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
