Prep those bellies for oxtail spring rolls and coconut rice as Cane Rhum Bar & Caribbean Kitchen prepares to open shortly with a series of friends and family previews this week. The East Bay Street restaurant from chef/owner Paul Yellin promises to capture a "laid back tropical oasis" feeling, with lots of rum drinks and Caribbean-inspired fare.
Eater noticed Cane last September when the restaurant took over the former Big John’s Tavern space at 251 East Bay St. Yellin and crew have spent the past few months refurbishing and refreshing the address. The Big John’s building suffered a fire in February 2015 and promptly shut down.
After the soft openings this week, it shouldn’t be too long before Cane welcomes the public to check out the renovations and try the extensive menu and rum list. Keep your eyes peeled for an exact date and go time for Caribbean food in downtown Charleston.
