The Kmartification of King Street continues with a new Starbucks going into the former Rebekah Jacob Gallery space. The 502 King St. address is currently cleared out with construction permits for the coffee chain posted in the windows.

This Starbucks will be the tenth outpost on the peninsula (Currently: two on Calhoun Street, one on East Bay, one at the College of Charleston, one on Lower King, two at the Medical University of South Carolina, one at The Vendue, and one in Harris Teeter). Unless we missed one? The chain has yet to go above The Crosstown.

If your coffee taste run less corporate, New Orleans-based Revelator Coffee Company is currently setting up shop a few steps away from the new Starbucks at 550 King St. If you need a caffeine fix before construction concludes, check out Eater’s list of 10 Essential Coffee Shops in Charleston right now.
