Downtown sophisticated sandwich shop Persimmon Cafe hopes to introduces the wonders of melted gouda to Summerville soon, but first it needs to stock up on employees. Owner Rob Cassi announced this week that Persimmon will host job fair on Wednesday, May 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1097 Main St. in Summerville. Potential counter servers and cooks can meet Cassi, check out the space, and have an interview. Applications are also available online.

Unlike many other food and beverage gigs in Charleston, Persimmon offers paid vacations to both full- and part-time employees and health insurance to full-time employees — a rarity in the service world.

For those more interested in eating than working, keep tuned in for an opening date soon.
