Mex 1 Coastal Cantina Opening Store at Former SALT Location

News came through this week that SALT at Station 22 closed, stating the owners were made an offer for the restaurant they couldn't refuse. Today, West Ashley's Mex 1 Coastal Cantina announced that it would be the new tenant of the prominent Sullivan's Island address on Middle Street. This will be the second location for the restaurant.

Mex 1 opened in West Ashley in 2012 and has served Mexican-inspired fare, including tacos, quesadillas, and the Baja Bowl, which Eater contributor Brian Wilder swears will cure any hangover.

The laid-back cantina hopes to open on Sullivan's Island this summer, just in time for margaritas by the beach.
