Banking on the popularity of the downtown Persimmon Cafe, owner Rob Casi will bring his concept to Summerville. The second custard and sandwich shop will stand at 1097 Main St., adjacent to the Earth Fare. The Summerville Persimmon Cafe will differ from the original, as it will not be housed in a laundromat — Casi broke ground on new construction for the eatery yesterday.

The new store should open this summer and will seat 40 patrons inside and 20 outside.
