For years, Eater Charleston speculated that Top Chef Season 10 winner Kristen Kish could be planning to open a restaurant in the Lowcountry. Her Instagram feed placed her in the city on numerous occasions, and she hopped in several Holy City kitchens, like Chez Nous and Zero George, for guest chef shifts.
Kish's public relations firm previously contended that the chef was looking at several options across the country with nothing confirmed. Today, however, Kish drops the news on Instagram and Facebook that she and Neighbourhood restaurateur/2013 Eater Young Gun Brooks Reitz have plans to collaborate on a Charleston establishment. Kish writes,
Many of you have already been guessing, as my adoration and love for Charleston has been no secret for several years now. @brooksreitz and I began our conversation 2 years ago and after our meeting in #nyc, we are making the exciting leap to finding that perfect FIRST RESTAURANT space. Stay tuned. #Charleston❗️
Reitz confirms that the new concept will be in Charleston and states, "Almost two years ago we began discussing the possibility of working together. Kristin is crazy talented, and she genuinely loves Charleston. She took the time to spend time there, learn about the city, and make close friends. I think it's going to be quite an exciting project, and I'm excited about what lies ahead."
No other details are available at the time, but you can be sure we will be tracking this one.
