ANSONBOROUGH — Dining out around Valentine's Day is pretty much the worst — restaurants are crowded, servers are stressed, and there's usually a lousy prix fixe menu of molten chocolate lava cakes. Fortunately, Zero George has recruited celebrity chef Kristen Kish to change that, along with Zero's executive chef Vinson Petrillo. On Saturday, February 13 (Valentine's Day is the next day), the duo will create a six-course meal, with pairings, for $225 a guest. Petrillo will also offer his own six-course menu on Valentine's Day. Reservations are available online. [EaterWire]
WEST ASHLEY — Legendary Southern chef Bill Smith visits Glass Onion in West Ashley for a dinner celebrating recipes from his book Crabs and Oysters: A SAVOR THE SOUTH® Cookbook. On Wednesday February 10, visitors to the restaurant will be able to order a special four-course meal full of dishes from Smith and Glass Onion chef Chris Stewart or from the normal menu. The Smith dinner is $70 per person and includes a copy of the book, or $125 a couple. [EaterWire]
WEST ASHLEY — R. Kitchen chef Ross Webb wants to open a second restaurant in West Ashley, but needs a little help. He's created a Kickstarter campaign to help cover the equipment needed to run the establishment. To explain the new place, Webb states, "The past year R. Kitchen has out grown its Downtown location (don't worry we are not moving or expanding size). I do not want to ever change the food, experience or seating capacity of what we currently do ... simply we are recreating the original concept a few miles down the road." [Kickstarter]
