Kazu Murakami was with downtown Asian restaurant/lounge O-Ku as the lunchtime sushi chef for eight months before moving into the title of Executive Chef. Murakami is a native of Nagano, Japan and moved to South Carolina in 1987 from Tokyo.
Murakami has worked for several Japanese restaurants in the Lowcountry and was the former sushi chef at Rue De Jean. When sending over Murakami's past employment list, O-Ku also mentioned that Murakami is the current state champion for table tennis. Who knew?
The new chef plans to make some changes to the O-Ku menu, which should be finalized soon.
