Chef David Schuttenberg was last seen helming the counter at meaty cafe Wise Buck Smoked Meats, but with that space closed indefinitely and opening chef Damon Wise gone, Schuttenberg found a new gig. He’s traded the title of director of culinary operations of Scarecrow & Co for the moniker of executive chef of King Street staple Fish.
The departure of long-time Fish chef Nico Romo left an opening for a new culinary mind. Schuttenberg took over as of November 2, but according to the press release, the restaurant’s current menu will remain through fall “with the gradual introduction of Schuttenberg’s unique and creative touches ...”
The chef is quoted saying, “My first goal will be to get to know the culinary team behind this restaurant’s well-deserved reputation. The focus on fresh, simple ingredients and refined technique is perfectly aligned to my passions as a chef, and I’m excited to collaborate on new dishes that share my personal style with guests. I also look forward to drawing from Charleston’s rich heritage and wealth of culinary influences, while deepening my roots in this vibrant community.”
