Damon Wise Heads Back to NYC

New, 1 comment

Goodbye, chef

Damon Wise Leslie McKellar
Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas.

After leaving new restaurant group Scarecrow & Co. in September, chef Damon Wise remarked that he wanted to stay in Charleston. However, Wise sent an email this morning to declare that he's going back north to New York City. With only a few sentences sent, Wise says he enjoyed his time in the "great community” of Charleston, but "unfortunately” he’s headed back to NYC.

Wise moved to the Lowcountry to be the culinary lead at the three Scarecrow & Co. concepts. Before moving to Charleston, Wise was a high-profile chef in New York at big deal brasserie Lafayette. Wise had also been a big player in the Tom Colicchio empire, worked at Gramercy Tavern, and cooked under Laurent Tourondel at Cello and Christian Delouvrier at Lespinasse.

Chef Ray England has replaced Wise at Scarecrow & Co.
