Once named the top spot to pick up young Republicans, Blind Tiger Pub, will lock the doors for good on Saturday, January 23, at 11:00 p.m. Just last week bartenders were unsure of the closure date, but City Paper editor Kinsey Gidick got the final word from owner Lisa Brown that January 23 is indeed the last day in business.
When Brown shutters Bling Tiger, developer Mike Shuler, also co-owner of college bar Midtown, will take over the space. City Paper suggests the new establishment will "keep Blind Tiger's speakeasy appeal." Shuler was also behind the 2013 renovation of Trio, another bar that was popular the same time as Blind Tiger's heyday.
Staff at Blind Tiger told us that they weren't restocking any of the hooch, so set expectations at bottled beers and shots for your final visit. The bar opens from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. this week until the last hooray on Saturday. For anyone who has bummed cigarettes on the outdoor patio, fallen in the koi pond, or bribed the bouncers to cut the line, this is your last week to relive those drunken hours on Broad Street.
