Though the facade remains untouched, construction crews are moving in and out of the former Big John's Tavern space. The dive bar suffered fire damage back in February, and the fate of the Charleston institution was unknown. At the time of the blaze, restaurateur John Adamson ran Big John's, but he says he is no longer involved with the project.

Back in June, Adamson told us his former partner Ryan Condon was in talks with others about reopening the space as another bar. It appears Condon is moving on with that plan, as in passing, we caught a glimpse of what looked like a new bar top inside.
