Last Tuesday, Eater announced that Two Boroughs Larder chef Jeffrey Stoneberger would replace executive chef Vanessa Middleton at James Island newcomer Stereo 8. Yesterday, Stoneberger told us he handed in his keys and would not take the position, as he decided to stay at TBL. City Paper published a statement from Stoneberger reading,

I've decided against joining the team at Stereo 8. This was a gut based decision that I have weighed with my friends and family. I wish Stereo 8 and the team all the best with their current and future endeavors. I want to thank David [LeBoutillier] for his amazing support and confidence in me.

Proprietors of Stereo 8 declined to comment. Stoneberger hadn't started in the kitchen yet, so there shouldn't be any changes for those who visited last week. For all the chef shuffles, the James Island newcomer is still doing pretty well on its Yelp reviews.
