Sullivan's Island restaurant The Obstinate Daughter will team up with Destiny Community Cafe this Wednesday, July 22, to provide affordable meals to the North Charleston neighbors. Destiny Community Cafe is a pay-what-you-can diner. Owner RaGina Saunders created the restaurant as a way to help those who may not have enough money to afford a meal at a traditional restaurant or even enough to go to the grocery store that day.
The Obstinate Daughter is the first local establishment to help pitch in at the cafe. The staff will donate time and food once a month to assist in providing more meals for the community. In a press release, chef Will Fincher writes that he "hopes to get other restaurants involved."
Destiny Community Cafe is located at 5060 Dorchester Rd. and is open Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m. The Obstinate Daughter will be cooking this Wednesday.
