In a letter to the Westside Neighborhood Association, managing member of forthcoming Westside Deli Jeffrey Roberts declared that the project would not "launch as planned," and that his company was faced with the decision to sell or lease the building.

Many residents in the area reported delays in construction earlier this year and wondered if the delicatessen would ever become a reality.

Roberts wrote, "It is my distinct pleasure to announce the finest possible outcome for the Westside neighborhood as Chef John Zucker, owner of Cru Cafe and Cru Catering just acquired the building."

Zucker has been a fixture in the Charleston culinary world for years. He opened Cru Cafe in 2002, and it seems 13 years later, it's time to take a new project. According to the letter, Zucker will be owner and operator of the space. Eater has reached out to hear his plans for the 237 Fishburne St. address.
