Upcoming restaurant Chick's Fry House now looks a lot more like one of the first tenants of the King Street address, the Tower Drive-In from the 1930s, than the car wash previously taking up the lot. As co-owners Robert Stehling and Dave Uecke put the finishing touches on the Southern-fried restaurant, Eater was allowed to poke around the building.
The interiors are casual and comforting, as one would expect from a "neighborhood hangout for fried chicken and beer." The Klein blue booths are spacious, there's shared seating in the middle, and it features plenty of picnic tables outside. Chick's Fry House will offer counter service and a drive-thru window. The idea is to encourage guests to call ahead or use the Chick's app before arriving to pick up their to-go orders, but it won't be a prerequisite to acquiring a quick meal for the family.
Stehling and Uecke haven't set an opening date yet, but it seems very imminent.
