It's rare that a restaurant hoists its signage before much is known about the establishment, but whoever is behind Cure on James Island has been relatively quiet about the happenings at 1739 Maybank Hwy. Eater hears the former J. Paul'z address will remain a restaurant and the tables and other dining equipment on the property suggest the same.
A source close to Eater indicates the space will be a steakhouse with a posh bar. With a name like Cure, many guessed it would be a charcuterie spot, but the moniker is rumored to be an acronym for "Comfortable Upscale Relaxing Environment." Eater also hears that the new James Island restaurant is held by the owners of Fratello's Italian Tavern and Brion's Pub and Grille.
None of this is confirmed as of now, but we've reached out to multiple sources for more information. If you hear anything, let us know.
