Grungy parlor Zappo's Pizza found new owners in February, but it was unknown who was responsible for the construction at 708 King St. It turns out, two very familiar names are joining forces for the first time on a new project in the space — restaurateur Jimmy Poole (The Alley) and chef Robert Berry (formerly of Indaco) are partnering to renovate the address and create a fresh concept.
They haven't said much, other than they hope to add an "... exciting element to the emerging neighborhood..." It probably won't be another bowling alley (size restrictions), and Berry hasn't hinted at what he's been up to since leaving Indaco in 2013 (More Italian? Maybe tacos?)
The restaurant is scheduled to open this summer, but until then, we'll be searching out more details. Guesses on names, cuisine, and any other information are welcome.
