If eager fans of chef Nate Whiting can't possibly wait another day for the opening of his upcoming restaurant 492, then they may want to think about purchasing a ticket to an April 3 wine dinner hosted by McCarus Beverage Company. An email from the wine distributor brags guests will be able to observe the eatery before anyone else gets a chance.

We are thrilled to announce a night of wine and food at Charleston's newest and never before experienced restaurant. Before opening his doors to the public, Chef Nate Whiting is welcoming Charleston's food and wine lovers to see, experience and enjoy his new restaurant in a unique way and we feel honored to be a part of it.

The dinner is scheduled for Friday, April 3, at 6 p.m., at $75 a person. Only 50 tickets are available by emailing 492's manager Mika Scutt at mika@492king.com. Though the King Street restaurant has not released a new opening date — after their February timeline lapsed — perhaps this event points at the first week in April.
