Upper King eatery 492 looks very different from the tour in October — in fact, it looks like a restaurant on the verge of opening. Pedestrians passing by will notice construction crews hurriedly working on the building on the corner of King and Mary Streets. In a few spots, the brown papers obscuring the windows are peeling, giving glimpses to ornate, golden light fixtures and a curious gnome statue.
The most predominate change to the address (from the outside view), is the addition of the large metal fence/sculpture separating 492's courtyard from the sidewalk. The funky barrier leads to the 40-person outdoor seating area — which could become an attractive space to guests seeking a bit of mild springtime weather.
492 passed its original late February opening date, so we'll be on the lookout for a new one. In the meantime, if you need a fix of chef Nate Whiting's upcoming restaurant, here's their landing page full of groovy wallpapers.
