Co-owners of Union Provisions, Ben Russell-Schlesinger and Robert Young, always planned to serve lunch to the crowds on Upper King — it just took them a while to get there. Today, the restaurant launches daytime offerings for downtown denizens.
Chef Chari Skinner created a menu of indulgent starters (truffle macaroni and cheese and house-made pâté), various salads plus proteins, flatbreads, and hearty fare like burgers and steak frites.
In addition to offering an afternoon option on an otherwise quiet stretch of nighttime restaurants, Union Provisions now has the advantages of staying open through the odd hours between lunch and dinner services. The day menu is served from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then they switch to the evening offerings. Lunch service runs Monday through Saturday.
