After a fire shut down Southern staple Anson Restaurant in 2013, the establishment turned the tragedy into an opportunity to redevelop the interiors. Anson officially opened on Thanksgiving with a completely new appearance.
Whereas the previous dining rooms were a study in subtlety, the new interiors are much more fanciful and extravagant, with murals on the walls, ornate chandeliers, dozens of paintings from local artists, and several working fireplaces.
Anson is located at 12 Anson St., and is open for dinner every evening, starting at 5:30 p.m. The current menu includes classics, like crispy flounder and she crab soup, and more contemporary fare, like a tasting of country ham with red eye aioli.
