First Look at Rise Gourmet Goods and Bakeshop in Columbia

Chef Sarah Simmons' "Southern Boulangerie"

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas.

After establishing fried chicken spot Birds & Bubbles and culinary salon City Grit in New York, chef Sarah Simmons returned to her hometown Columbia to open Rise Gourmet Goods and Bakeshop. The quaint grab-and-go shop opened a few days before historic floods hit the area, but made the space made it through the storms unscathed.

Rise offers upscale dry goods, housemade butters, baked goods, sandwiches, fried chicken, grain bowls, takeaway dinners, and more. The storefront doesn't have seating, but the shelves are full of products to bring home.
