Charleston celebrity chef Bob Carter announced his latest project yesterday — Barony Tavern. The "upscale American fare" restaurant will be housed in the space currently held by Wentworth Grill in the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel. There hasn't been much outcry from patrons of the Grill upon the mention of its demise, but more curiosity about Carter's newest project.
Carter has spent the past two years leading the kitchen at Rutledge Cab Company and is most widely recognized for his work at fine dining stalwart Peninsula Grill. Barony Tavern will be a return to a more upscale eatery for the chef. He told the Post and Courier, "The food and service will be top-notch."
The new concept should open on February 25.
