Downtown diner Jack's Cafe is open today after shuttering on October 31 for renovations. The establishment's new owners, Edward and Nancy Flynn, brought Douglas Svec on board to man the griddle. Svec previously worked as the morning sous chef at Southern brunch favorite Hominy Grill.
Part of the charm of the original Jack's Cafe was chef/owner Jack Sewell on the line. After his retirement, previous followers of the diner are curious to see what Svec has to offer.
The updated menu is now available online. The good news: there's still a few plates under $5. The bad news: the price of a burger doubled. If you visit the new counter, let us know what you think.
