The BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival launched their new website and list of events for the upcoming 2015 season. Tickets are snapped up in a matter of moments, and those wanting first dibs will need to sign up for the Wine + Food newsletter to get the alert when the shopping starts tomorrow. Here, Eater predicts a few of the hot happenings that are sure to sell out first. Of course, there are plenty of great events, but bets are set that these tickets will be the most popular.
1. Lighter Side of the South Lunch at Leon's. One of Charleston's newest culinary destinations Leon's Oyster Shop teams up with NYC chef Ben Towill of The Fat Radish for a family-style lunch. This might be the only event boasting "healthier recipes" for attendees. This also fuels the rumors of a Towill establishment in Charleston. (Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. Tickets: $100)
2. Cypress Signature Dinner. "Sausage King of Chicago" Jared Van Camp and Cypress charcuterie master Craig Deihl come together for what will most likely be a meatsplosion of Lowcountry flavors. You can probably count on cured meats at the table. (Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets: $175)
3. Edmund's Oast Signature Dinner. Traditional Thai food paired with heritage American cuisine? Why not? Chef Andy Henderson of Edmund's Oast and chef Andy Ricker of Pok Pok Restaurants collaborate for an interesting evening of culinary merriment. Double the Andys, double the fun. 4. Friends of FIG Signature Dinner. The men of FIG are out to prove there's no such thing as too many chefs in the kitchen. Charleston chefs Mike Lata and Jason Stanhope welcome guest chefs Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman of Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen in Memphis and Chris Shepherd of Underbelly in Houston. The quintuplet of cooks will be recreating childhood favorites that led them to their culinary journey today. (Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets: $175)
5. McCrady's Signature Dinner. McCrady's chef Sean Brock invites chef John Fleer of Rhubarb in Asheville to create a can't-miss evening. Rhubarb has quickly become one of the most buzzed about Southern restaurants around. (Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets: $175)
6. Two Boroughs Larder Signature Dinner. Atlanta-based chefs Steven Satterfield of Miller Union and Ryan Smith of Staplehouse are joining Two Boroughs Larder chef Josh Keeler for an evening of Southern-influenced plates and farm-to-table menu items. 7. High Cotton Signature Dinner. The affable Vivian Howard of NC restaurant Chef & The Farmer and the PBS series A Chef's Life comes to Charleston staple High Cotton to cook with Shawn Kelly. Expect Southern favorites with sophistication. (Friday, March 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets: $175)
8. Rye History of Charleston. The minds behind the Charleston Brown Water Society are hosting a rye whiskey seminar on Saturday morning. Is it ever too early for liquor? Nah. Knowing the guys involved with this group, it's sure to be an informative and entertaining event. (Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Tickets: $65)
9. Southern Betty Brunch. This event brings together top female chefs, farmers, and winemakers for a delightful daytime meal. Local chefs Michelle Weaver of Charleston Grill and Lauren Mitterer of WildFlour Pastry are joined by guests Ashley Christensen, Anne Quatrano, Pheobe Lawless, and Vivian Howard for a powerhouse of culinary superstars. 10. The Macintosh Signature Dinner. Sup under the stars with Raleigh chef Ashley Christensen (Poole's Diner) and hometown favorite Jeremiah Bacon (Oak and The Macintosh).
