Collective Coffee Co. Heading to George Street?

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas, covering the food and restaurant scene across North and South Carolina.

While it hasn't been confirmed by the owners, Eater is 99.5% sure that Mount Pleasant hangout Collective Coffee Co. is branching out to downtown Charleston. Several reliable sources tell us that the co-owners of The Bagel Shop on George Street, Liz and Sinan Aktar, will rebrand the eatery as a Collective Coffee Co. (the Aktars are also the proprietors of the Mount Pleasant Collective). More than likely, this will result in a greater focus on espresso beverages and a more extensive menu at 41-A George Street.

The Bagel Shop's windows are currently covered with brown paper and a sign reads that they will reopen in August. A permit is also posted approving changes to interior painting, new tiles, countertops, and display cases. The interiors at the current Collective are a bit hipper than The Bagel Shop, so patrons can probably count on a slicker looking coffee stop.
