Former Tristan chef and head of the kitchen at upcoming 492, Nate Whiting, talks for the first time about the his new restaurant coming to King Street. Whiting speaks with Potluck Video about the details on 492, during a recent trip to the James Beard House.
Whiting says the fare will be "somewhat similar" to the shuttered Tristan. He describes the offerings at 492 as "progressive American" and "contemporary American," with a "fluid menu" that will highlight local purveyors. He calls it "fine dining type of quality without the pretentiousness." Whiting also predicts a fall opening.
