New Restaurant/Music Venue Coming to the Eastside?

There's an application into the Board of Zoning Appeals to turn the former Touch of Class jazz club into a music venue and restaurant. It appears that the building at 504 Meeting St. has sat unused for some time, but it was once a hub for swingin' tunes in the 1950s and '60s. Best estimates place the club closing in the mid-'90s.

The owner of the shuttered establishment is listed as Ernest Pinckney, and Sheppard Street LLC is seeking BZA approval.

With real estate prices going through the roof on King Street, it's only natural that restaurateurs would turn their sights on the Eastside. The Palace Hotel is the latest eatery to focus on property east of King Street, but this area will probably see a lot more interest. If you have any leads on this music-focused entry into the Charleston food and beverage scene, let us know.
