When Chef Nathan Thurston left Stars Restaurant, two months ago, many wondered if he would stick with teaching at The Art Institute of Charleston. While he's still a professor, Thurston told Eater that he is launching his own catering and consulting business, Thurston Southern.
With the recent boom in Charleston restaurants, Thurston said he saw a market need for hospitality consultants. He is already working with an establishment in town, but could not name them. The catering side of the business will focus on high-end specialized food for events, weddings, and in-home visits.
