There was talk, back in March, that hip pan-Asian place Xiao Bao Biscuit might be looking to expand to Asheville, but it turns out that the restaurant's sous chef, Patrick O'Cain, will be the only one headed north. Chef/co-owner Josh Walker stated O'Cain, a member of the opening team at the eatery, is returning to his hometown of Asheville. Walker also said O'Cain plans to open an establishment "inspired by his time at McCrady's, Xiao Bao, and Asheville's own Curate."
In the same email, Walker stated "While we were initially exploring the idea of doing another Xiao Bao in Asheville, we are, for the moment, keeping our focus more local and exploring an opportunity for a different concept in the Charleston area." This news is really exciting, because what could be better than another restaurant from the same minds that brought Asian comfort food to the Lowcountry? Let the speculation start over what that concept might be.
