Creation Story of FIG, The Ordinary, and Leon's

It hit late Friday that chef Mike Lata and business partner Adam Nemirow appointed chef de cuisine Jason Stanhope to executive chef of farm-to-table favorite FIG. City Paper broke the story, shortly after Geoff Rhyne, chef de cuisine at sister restaurant The Ordinary, announced he would deflect to upcoming Leon's Oyster Shop with other shellfish hall alumni Brooks Reitz and Ari Kolender.

In attempt to track the migratory patterns of the current and former employees of Lata and Nemirow, Eater decided it would be easiest to put forth the creation story of FIG, The Ordinary, and Leon's Oyster Shop. The tale is presented below.

In the beginning, there was Adam and Mike. Adam and Mike beget FIG. Every beast of the earth, and every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth from the ground was transformed at FIG, and so it was. And, behold, it was very good.

From the food paradise came Brooks and Jason. Brooks was a keeper of guests, and Jason was a tiller of the kitchen. And every moving thing and green that liveth thrived at FIG.

And to Adam and Mike, to them, also there was born The Ordinary. Adam, Mike, and Brooks journeyed northward from the Meeting Street to the land of Upper King. Jason stayed to toil at FIG.

The Ordinary was to have dominion over the fish of the sea. And it was good. From the fortress of shellfish came Geoff and Ari. And the kingdom praised their works.

Out of that land went forth Brooks northward and builded Leon's. And it came to pass, Geoff and Ari followed.

On that day, it happened by chance, that Mike gave the awards of the land of FIG to Jason for his endurance. Mike would again have dominion over the works at The Ordinary. Jason beheld the sanctuary of FIG.
