Brasserie Gigi Opened Today on Market Street

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas, covering the food and restaurant scene across North and South Carolina.

The newest project from chef Frank McMahon, Brasserie Gigi, opened for lunch today at 11:30 a.m. The old Mercato space has been transformed into a French bistro, with leather booths, aged mirrors, and a Parisian-style zinc bar.

The restaurant is available for lunch or dinner patrons and serves traditional French fare. Fans of salad Niçoise, steak frites, and seafood towers will feel right at home in the soft glow at Brasserie Gigi.

Of last night's soft opening, founder of Charlie magazine, Caroline Nuttall, stated, "Yes, there is now a reason to go to Market Street."
