Back in February, Park Circle restaurant Cork Neighborhood Bistro was the target of reality show "Belly Up!" They subsequently received a makeover and reopened as Cannon Trattoria, a more Italian-influenced eatery. But the update didn't last long, as the restaurant recently changed back to their previous Cork title. They also ditched the crudos and the flatbreads, in favor of chilled crab dip and sandwiches. City Paper reported that the establishment announced the switch on Facebook.
Frequent patrons may have predicted the ditching of the Cannon concept, because by March 6, the kitchen was already moving old Cork items onto the menu and cutting the dishes heavily influenced by Italy.
City Paper said that the owners of Cork/Cannon were not pleased about a recent write-up titled "Reality show makeover might leave locals confused" and thought the story hurt their business. Whether it was the article, the non-airing of their episode of "Belly Up!," or just Park Circle's perceived demand of chicken wings and fried calamari, Cork decided their comeback was a better idea than keeping Cannon.
