It's not an April Fools' Day joke, but the owners of The Farmbar will be moving the permanent location of the canteen from the original site at creative hub 1600 Meeting Street, to their property, Deux Puces Farm, in Awendaw. Readers may recall that plans to move into the community workspace date back almost two years.
Chef/owner Tara Derr Webb hasn't released many details, such as why the sudden change, but she says, in addition to The Farmbar, they plan to build a commercial kitchen and are working on more concepts near their home. Deux Puces Farm has previously played host to numerous camp outs and dinner parties, as part of Webb's bohemian style of entertaining and sense of community.
However, downtown dwellers not wanting to haul it out to the country shouldn't fret too much, as Webb will maintain the silver Spartan to act as a mobile eatery with pop-up stops around Charleston.
Stay tuned for more details on the topsy-turvy ride that is The Farmbar.
