A Short Story About Calzones With Brian Wolter

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas, covering the food and restaurant scene across North and South Carolina.

When Eater interviewed Gilroy's owner Brian Wolter about his experiences running a late night pizza joint, he also told us a little tale of calzones.

Do you have any thoughts on calzones versus pizza?
I prefer pizza, but we have die hard people that drop by from North Charleston to get one of our calzones. One of them is a lady named June, who works at Berlin's Restaurant Supply. She was in here the other day, for her birthday, and she said, "I've been on a diet for like two months. I've been trying to lose some weight, but it's my birthday, and all I want is a calzone from you guys."

Gilroy's makes a calzone worth breaking your diet for.
