Chef Nathan Thurston of Stars Restaurant confirmed that he will leave their kitchen at the end of the month. Thurston helped steer the opening menu for the King Street eatery, but after little over a year, he will move on to teaching. He is currently a part-time instructor at The Art Institute of Charleston, but was offered a full-time faculty position. He will teach an à la carte class next term.
Thurston stressed, however, this does not mean he is "stepping out of the F&B area." He's simply transitioning to the next step in his career. The chef said there is another project in the works, but could not confirm any details at the time he spoke to Eater. Stars is currently weighing their option for Thurston's replacement.
