Fitting of Vincent Chicco's tippling namesake, Mayor Joe Riley was a bit tardy to the restaurant's ribbon cutting ceremony and declared, "It isn't smart for a politician to keep people waiting when there is free booze inside." Eater photographer Rémy Thurston was on hand to capture the charming moment.
Though the eateries opened a few weeks ago, Riley was in attendance to celebrate the grand opening of the Holy City Hospitality Hutson Alley Projects (Vincent's, Victor Social Club, and Michael's on the Alley). He and proprietor Michael R. Bennett spoke to the significance of the space and how it is an homage to Charleston's past. However, Eater doubts they mentioned the address's most recent history as late-night party place Club Tango.
