When venerated downtown diner Jack's Cafe changed owners and closed for renovations, loyal patrons were wary — what sort of place would the restaurant be without longtime cook and owner Jack Sewell? Well, here's the first change spotted today. The recognizable red, yellow, and green of the Jack's Cafe logo are gone and replaced with a brown maroon.
While searching for updates on the new menu, it appeared that instead of $3.00 hamburgers, the renovated eatery would serve $43 sirloin steak with truffle oil, lobster with eggs, and a $10 "breakfast martini" — but we were revealed to see the listings were an exact copy of an Italian restaurant in Connecticut and it is just a case of web design placeholders. At this time, there is no word from the cafe about the updated menu. [Update] The new owners assure us these are not the offerings, though it's a pretty entertaining sight to see fancy racks of lamb on a college diner menu.
