Forget the fancy plates, City Paper critic Eric Doksa declares that sometimes you need to tuck into a big basket of fried fish bits. In his review of food-truck-turned-restaurant Roadside Seafood, Doksa declares owner Sean Mendes' shrimp to be amongst the best in town.
The breading is thin, but full of gusto. It's bold but allows the succulent local shrimp to shine. Sans tail, the golden-brown treasures disappear from paper-lined plastic baskets in no time.
Doksa appreciates the simple pleasures of a good plate of mac 'n' cheese and other comfort foods the James Island eatery offers.
