First it was fancy taqueria Scratch Taco Boutique, and then we suspected 713 Coleman Blvd. would be DJ hangout Wave Bar & Grill, but now City Paper confirms the address will resurrect as Black Sheep Bar & Grill. Like Wave, Black Sheep bills itself as a comedy club, music venue, and bar/restaurant.
Editor Kinsey Gidick talks with owner Zach Bedell, and it sounds like he wants to redeem his reputation from the quick shuttering of Scratch:
Bedell says he's learned some lessons from the flop. "I opened [Scratch] with a business partner and chef last time and he ended up parting ways three months into it. This time I took the entire design and reins so to speak. My passion is put into this place," he says. "I don't feel like I'm a pretentious guy and I wanted to lose all sense of that and put in things people like."
The food is reported as bar staples (wings and burgers) with a "Southern twist." Black Sheep will open on Friday, November 21.
