The news broke, late Friday, that Austin-based pitmaster John Lewis plans to open a new restaurant, Lewis Barbecue, on Nassau Street this spring. City Paper editor Kinsey Gidick mused on the fate of the forthcoming Home Team BBQ outpost in the same area of Lewis' concept. Could two top meateries exist within walking distance of each other?
But, no need to worry, as chef/co-owner of Home Team, Aaron Siegel informed Gidick, today, "In my business, especially the barbecue business, we support each other." Siegel is already pals with Lewis, and they plan to cook along side one another at the November 9 Brew and Cue event hosted at Coast Brewing (tickets are $30, if you want to compare the pitmasters' styles).
