The Sign on the Door at Jack's Cafe Says It All

Sad face.

When word came through that 42-year food and beverage veteran Jack Sewell was retiring from downtown icon Jack's Cafe, fans of the George Street establishment were heartbroken. Sewell told City Paper he is happy to finally retire, but these last few days in business may be his busiest — everyone wants a chance to savor a final breakfast or burger from the hands of Jack's Cafe's griddle master.

The sign at the door at 41-C George St. asks patrons to be patient, and they have been slammed:

This Friday (10/13) will be our last day :(. It's been packed & there will be a wait, please be understanding. It's been a really great time & we will miss you all!

Get there early if you want a last bite at Jack's.
