Charleston's first bubble tea shop opens soon.

Boba tea shop Tapio thought they were going to open last December near the Market, but due to a few hiccups, they now find themselves welcoming guests to 65 Spring St. this Saturday.

For those not familiar with bubble/boba tea, Tapio's website explains the beverage:

Tapioca aka boba is a starch that is extracted from a cassava root (think potatoes) and made into little chewy pearls found at the bottom of the drink. The consistency of a boba pearl is that of a soft gummy bear.

According to the Tapio Twitter account, the store will be ready to serve up the unique beverages starting at 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on October 4.
