North Carolina franchise Southern Season is coming to Mount Pleasant and bringing an all-day restaurant with them. The gourmet flagship store in Chapel Hill houses long-standing eatery The Weathervane, and East Cooper is soon to welcome a similar concept with Southerly Restaurant and Patio. The dining room is slated to open the same date (early September) as the specialty store on Coleman Boulevard. The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on weekends.
Chef Chad Billings of Miami heads the kitchen and keeps an upscale Southern slant on most of the dishes. The day menu should please a range of people from yoga moms (McCann's steel cut oatmeal), to business professionals (Southern Season Blend bottomless cup), to hungover beach tourists (fried chicken biscuit). The dinner menu offers hearty fare such as poutine with Ashe County cheese curd, smoked bacon jus and duck confit or steak and potatoes featuring smoked Gouda tater tots. Check back for a definitive opening date.
