Delays, Signs of Construction at King Street's Leyla

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas, covering the food and restaurant scene across North and South Carolina.

Since their announced arrival in April, no discernible changes have occurred with Leyla, the forthcoming downtown Lebanese restaurant. The proposed opening date was July 1, but the doors are still shut and rubble continues to clutter the interior. However, several workers were spotted inside today. Assuming hard hats and updated permits (dated June 28) signal imminent construction, perhaps Charleston will be eating authentic tabbouleh and baba ganoush soon. Those in the know should tip.
